Our Goal
To help you reach your fullest potential as an athlete and martial artist in the areas of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for sport, combative training, and fitness.

Training Philosophy
Our Straight Blast Gym BJJ based curriculum is designed first and foremost to create effective, functional, and comprehensive grapplers.  Our program is strictly No-Gi for both Submission Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts competition.
Striking - Grappling - Self Defense

''We do have a few athletes at the gym, as we do have the 'Average Joes' or martial arts enthusiasts that train at Team One.  The gym welcomes all comers to train.  If its for fitness, fun, or a hobby, Team One has a place for you!' - John B.

The three aspects of Jiu-Jitsu we focus on are:
1. Standing Grappling
2. Ground Submission Grappling/Jiu-Jitsu
3. Jits with Hits (MMA)

Our conceptual focus is on the following principles:
1. Alive Training (Resistance is progressively increased over time)
2. Functionality (Use what works, and discard what does not)
3. Adaptability (A delivery system that lets students form their own unique style)
4. Athleticism / Fitness
5. Attitude / Mind Frame

We train and teach with a systematic and athletic perspective:
1. Information and techniques are presented in a logical progression
2. Drilling is done with an emphasis on Alive Training (Progressive Resistance)
3. Competency and progress is gauged by one simple standard -- successful execution of a technique against an uncooperative opponent.
4. Top priority is coaching you as an athlete / martial artist to reach a new level of performance.

Our Jiu-Jitsu program has formed some great athletes that have just starting competing in Submission Wrestling.  In two tournaments, we have had 4 competitors total compete (NAGA Midwest Championships and Corrals Combat Classic).   Our four athletes came back with 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and One Bronze medals for Team One... some with only 4 months of training!
