Our Goal
To help you reach your
fullest potential as an athlete and martial artist in the areas of
Muay Thai Kickboxing & Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu for sport, combative training, and fitness.
Training Philosophy
Our curriculum is designed first and foremost to create effective,
functional, comprehensive martial artists - both for street and sport.
We break our curriculum down in three distinct ways: 1) type of
training; 2) range and 3) concepts / principles.
'We do have a few
athletes at the gym, as we do have the 'Average Joes' or martial arts
enthusiasts that train at Team One. The gym welcomes all comers to
train. If its for fitness, fun, or a hobby, Team One has a place
for you!' - John B.
The three primary
types of training we focus on are:
1. Kick-Boxing (Sport)
2. Submission Grappling (Sport)
3. Street Combatives (Self-Defense)
The four ranges of
defense we focus on are:
1. Stand-up Striking (Attached & Unattached)
2. Standing Grappling (Attached)
3. Ground Submission Grappling
4. Ground Fighting
Our conceptual focus
is on the following principles:
1. Alive Training (Resistance is progressively increased over time)
2. Functionality (Use what works, and discard what does not)
3. Adaptability (A delivery system that lets students form their own
unique style)
4. Athleticism / Fitness
5. Attitude / Mind Frame
We train and teach
with a systematic and athletic perspective:
1. Information and techniques are presented in a logical progression
2. Drilling is done with an emphasis on Alive Training (Progressive Resistance)
3. Competency and progress is gauged by one simple standard --
successful execution of a technique against an uncooperative opponent.
4. Top priority is coaching you as an athlete / martial artist to reach
a new level of performance.
What makes our training environment
world class is our quality coaching staff, our proven training methods,
our conceptual foundation, and the friendly, supportive training
atmosphere you'll find at our gym. All of these components come
together to make a refreshing approach to training and
fitness. |
